๐Ÿ–๏ธ Beach & Sun Holiday

Beach Holiday Packing List

Everything you need for the perfect sun and sea escape โ€” from swimwear to sunscreen, snorkelling to after-sun. Never forget a thing again.

What you actually need to pack.

A beach holiday sounds simple โ€” throw some swimwear in a bag and go. But forget your sunscreen, leave behind your after-sun, or pack the wrong shoes and your trip suffers from day one. This checklist covers everything: the essentials you absolutely can't leave without, the optional extras that make life better, and a few things most people forget until they're standing in an overpriced resort pharmacy.

Before you start packing.

The things experienced beach & sun holiday travellers wish someone had told them before their first trip.

01
Pack swimwear last, access it first

Put your swimwear right at the top of your bag โ€” you'll want it the moment you arrive. Pack at least two sets so one can dry while you wear the other.

02
Sunscreen is always cheaper at home

Airport and resort sunscreens are marked up 3โ€“4ร— the normal price. Buy your SPF 30 and SPF 50 at home and decant into travel bottles if flying carry-on.

03
Roll clothing, don't fold

Rolling lightweight summer clothes saves up to 30% more space than folding, and reduces creasing on thin fabrics like linen and cotton.

04
Waterproof your valuables

A cheap waterproof phone pouch (โ‚ฌ5โ€“10) means you can take photos in the water, keep your phone safe on the beach, and stop worrying about waves.

Common questions.

The most frequently asked questions about packing for a beach & sun holiday.

What sunscreen should I pack for a beach holiday? โ–พ
Pack both SPF 30 for everyday use and SPF 50 for direct beach time. If you have fair skin or are visiting a tropical destination, start with SPF 50 for the whole trip. Always bring more than you think you'll need โ€” running out on a beach holiday is miserable.
How much luggage do I need for a beach holiday? โ–พ
A week-long beach holiday fits comfortably in a carry-on (20โ€“23L) if you pack smart. Lightweight summer clothes are compact, and most resorts have pools and beaches that don't need much variety. Going longer than 10 days or bringing snorkelling gear is when a checked bag starts to make sense.
What shoes should I pack for a beach holiday? โ–พ
Three pairs covers everything: flip flops for the beach and pool, comfortable walking sandals for exploring, and one pair of smart shoes or wedges for evenings out. Any more is unnecessary weight.
